New owners of a previously fire damaged home that had undergone a bare bones rebuild, commissioned Norman Sanchez Architecture to do an extensive remodel. The home’s original grandeur was honored by use of period details such as custom milled columns, hardwood floors, period base board and picture rails. In addition, the kitchen area was completely remodeled and the adjacent spaces were altered to create an expansive line of sight from the living room through the entry, dining room and kitchen to the backyard. Thoughtful placement of built-ins and repeating columns created a unified, cohesive space while maintaining discreet functionality in each room. A new master-suite and office were designed on the upper floor. New exterior shingles seemingly wrap the home with warmth.

This project consisted of a complete interior redesign to create an updated, light filled, open circulation floor plan. The existing arches throughout the home provided inspiration for incorporating an arched entry between the dining room to the fully remodeled kitchen and a new living room fireplace.

The master bedroom was redesigned to include a walk-in closet and an office nook. The downstairs was converted from a dark and dated storage/laundry space into an inviting family room giving onto a guest suite and French doors opening to a new deck and the backyard.

This project consisted of completing the interior of a new residence that had been partially constructed. Several of the interior spaces were re-designed to optimize the interior flow and indoor-outdoor relationship in order to capitalize on the scenic surroundings.

New construction included converting an existing three-car garage into a master suite inclusive of a gym and loft. A new detached three-car garage was designed.

The master-suite of this stunning Spanish Revival was re-designed to recapture the elegance of the original home. The master bath was completely renovated to create a more spacious and pleasing layout. Washer and dryer units which had been visible upon entry to the master-suite were relocated next to the shower and placed behind wood doors with custom wood cutouts. In the adjoining sunroom, the former laundry area was repurposed and became a full length built-in closet with custom mirrored doors and wood trim accents. And, centered in the ceiling above a grand staircase, a mahogany trimmed laylight was designed with a new sun tunnel above, which serves to bring ample natural light into the stair vestibule and the home's grand entry below.

New owners of this majestic Queen Anne Victorian wanted to preserve its original wood detailing and expansive rooms while brightening the interior and re-designing the floor plan to create a welcoming entry, a more spacious and efficient kitchen, a master-suite, a children's bathroom and ample storage throughout the home. In the kitchen, a cramped and ill placed staircase was removed to gain a new wall for cabinets and a double-oven and the connection between the breakfast nook and the kitchen was enhanced. A non-functioning fireplace in the dining room was replaced with a double-sided built-in cabinet to allow for a more cohesive connection between the kitchen and dining room. On the upper floor, a master-suite was created by repurposing part of an existing bedroom and converting the existing pass-through closet between the two rooms into a bathroom and walk-in closet. The existing second floor bathroom was remodeled and reconfigured with a playful décor to serve the family’s children.

A young active couple wished to create a new 2nd-story retreat-like master suite with a contemporary aesthetic. Norman Sanchez Architecture designed the space to include an in-wall double-sided fireplace, walk-in closet, laundry, bath and deck. The bedroom has an abundance of natural lighting while allowing for undisturbed sleep during the day with the use of blackout curtains. A walk-in closet/laundry room provides lots of storage for both professional clothing and athletic gear while providing convenient access to the laundry. French doors provide access to a small deck overlooking the backyard. In the master bath, thoughtful use of transoms high above the vanity as well as windows above a free-standing soaking tub provide ample natural lighting without compromising privacy. A large steam shower allows for the rejuvenation of the wearied body after a long day at work and/or workout.
